ICOM Georgia's Meeting with Caucasus University Students

On June 8, 2023, ICOM Georgia representatives met with the students of Caucasus University upon the invitation of Prof. Guranda Chelidze, the Academic Head of the European Studies BA Program in the School of Humanities and Social Sciences. ICOM Georgia Chairperson Lana Karaia, along with Board members Maka Kvaratskhelia and Mariam Chkhaidze, provided an introduction to the activities of ICOM Georgia and engaged in a discussion with the students regarding the prevailing challenges faced by museums and cultural heritage. The topics addressed included the social role of museums, the involvement of museums in achieving the UN sustainable development goals, and the safeguarding of cultural heritage during times of crisis.
The meeting took place in an interactive format, ensuring active participation from the students. Towards the end of the meeting, fruitful discussions between the ICOM Georgia representatives and university professors paved the way for potential collaborations. Specifically, prospects for future cooperation with professors and students of Caucasus University were identified, focusing on joint scientific research projects and various other activities.
