Applications for EMYA2027 are now open!
EMYA celebrates bold ideas and fresh thinking in museums across Europe — and the 2027 edition is especially meaningful as we mark the 50th anniversary of both EMYA and the Council of Europe Museum Prize.
We champion public quality, spark innovative exchange, and highlight sustainable, future‑focused practice.
If your museum is nonprofit and opened or underwent a major transformation after January 2022, this is your moment to shine.
Explore the Guidelines and FAQs to get a quick overview of how the process works and what to expect.
Our National Correspondents are also ready to help you if you require additional guidance, so please do not hesitate to contact the respective national correspondents in your country.
Submit your entry by Monday, 4 May 2026.
All European museums which are not for profit and have opened or been substantially renewed since January 2022 are eligible to apply.
Museums/exhibitions opened for more than 4 years at the time of the application, are not eligible.
The EMYA Jury is looking for innovations in public quality that are likely to have a significant influence in the national and international museum field.
Temporary or ‘semi-permanent’ exhibitions can be the subject of an application. It has to be noted that museums/exhibitions need to be open/completed in time for the judging visit (summer – early autumn) and have to remain accessible until at least the end of June the following year.
No individual museum can be submitted for the award within four years of a previous application i.e. in 2022, 2023, 2024 or 2025. (This does not include different branches of a multi-venue museum service.)
Your application must reach us by midnight on this date. Late applications will not be considered.
Please carefully check the procedures and terms stated in the GUIDELINES and FAQ before starting to prepare your application.
You can also download the application form in its Microsoft Word format HERE, should you prefer to fill and submit your application (with all required attachements) via email to Pedro Branco, EMF Administrator, at emf@europeanforum.museum
